Entry Point North's Newsletter!

Wishing all the best for 2013 to all our customers, partners, colleagues, students and employees, Entry Point North presents the latest news and graduations at the academy.

Entry Point North becomes an ICAO Trainair Plus member

Entry Point North is pleased to announce that it has become a TRAINAIR PLUS Associate member of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). The certificate of membership was officially handed over to the academy’s representatives on 25th September during the TRAINAIR PLUS Global Symposium in Singapore with more than 400 participants registered.

"The ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS Associate membership strengthens our current solid international position and gives us global recognition when offering our highest quality training services anywhere in the world. We are pleased to become an official member of this important international civil aviation training family" – says Anne Kathrine Jensen, Managing Director of Entry Point North.

The Graduation of Prishtina's future controllers

On the 16th November Entry Point North had the honour to host a graduation ceremony for the ATC students from Prishtina. The prestigious event was attended by many family members, guests from Prishtina Adem Jashari airport and Entry Point North's management. We were also fortunate to have an attendence of the CEO of Prishtina International Airport "Adem Jashari", Bahri Nuredini, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo in Sweden, Lulzim Peci. The ambassador delivered a  great speech in recognition of the students' hard work and dedication, and the relationship between two organisations throughout this milestone achievement.

The training was a great success – students were very positive and eager to learn all the way long. During more than 10 months of studying they became a natural part of everyday life at Entry Point North.

In the beginning of January Entry Point North also conducted 3 days on-site OJTI Refresher training for 8 instructors in Prishtina. The course refreshed their knowledge and skills preparing them for the task of Unit training instructors for the newly graduated students from Entry Point North.

Entry Point North is expanding activities in Asia

China is not the only point of attention for Entry Point North when it comes to Asia. 2012 also brought new relations with Indonesia. The Indonesian Civil Aviation Institute and Entry Point North have signed a Certificate of Cooperation for training. Several participants from Air Transportation HR Development Centre have already, with great success, attended various courses at Entry Point North.

A delegation from KNKT (National Transportation Safety Board of Indonesia) came to Entry Point North for a tailor made course in Advanced Safety and Human Factors. In close cooperation the course was developed to address the training needs for topics such as Aviation Risk Management, Fatigue, Just Culture and Accident Investigation. “Entry Point North is proud to be delivering courses to ATM professionals from Indonesia and we hope to establish a lasting relationship and cooperation during the years to come” says Anders Halskov-Jensen, Client Manager for Asia & Middle East at Entry Point North.

MOS Trailer on the road

For on-site simulation training Entry Point North offers a specially equipped mobile simulation (MOS) solution. During September and October more than 30 tower controllers from Aviation Capacity Resources AB (ACR) – a private air navigation service provider in Sweden - received emergency training in the mobile simulator that was transported and put into operation next to their tower units, Stockholm Västerås and Växjö.

“The mobile training solution obviously brings many advantages to our customers” – says Eva Håkansson, Client Manager at Entry Point North. Performing the training next to the workplace meant that controllers did not need to travel, pay for hotel accommodation and be temporary relocated. This reduced the total training cost for the ANSP besides minimising the impact on the daily operation at the unit.

The MOS trailer can accommodate a tower or a radar simulator, 2 controller positions and 2 pseudo pilot positions. It can be deployed easily and quickly almost anywhere as it only needs space to park, access to power and an internet connection. The MOS trailer is ideal for ATC training, refresher and/or emergency training at small or moderate sized aerodromes. Exercises can be designed simulating the local airport/airspace set-up to ensure training is performed with a high level of realism. This also enables training to be more effective by simulating local traffic scenarios and/or unusual events that may only happen sporadically.

Upgrade of our classrooms

In the end of 2012 Entry Point North freshened up its classrooms and kitchen areas to improve the working environment for both students and employees. A professional interior designer has helped us to do the work and ensure that we provide first class training environment. Each classroom has its own bright colour, however we have chosen grey to be a basic colour.

We aim to have pleasant and comfy academic environment so we continuously work to develop our training facilities.
