Spain has one of the strictest lockdowns in Europe
The Spanish President, Pedro Sanchez, has announced that Spain will start a gradual 3 phase transition. From Today, May 4th, more establishments will start opening. Phase 1 starts on May 11th, and every two weeks, depending on the evolution, a new phase will begin in loosening more measures, until June.
Subject to international health regulations, some European Nationals are expected to be able to visit their second homes in Mallorca, when phase three is completed.
The Balearics have reported one of the lowest rates of Covid-19 in Spain. Todays News states that “Baleares hasn’t registered any new contagion or deaths in the last two days”. Also, a number of villages in Mallorca have been declared Covid-19 free.
Thanks to that, the Balearic government will be able to ease restrictions earlier than some of the worst hit regions, already happening on smaller islands like Formentera.
