Playscan™ - How it Works
The gambling behavior is represented in the analogy of a traffic light – which most of us are familiar with. The different colors of a traffic light, green, yellow and red, symbolize three different classifications for players. But how do we set the standards and define the colors?
When composing the color of the traffic light for a player, one important factor is Playscan's data analysis. This part is based on analysis of transactional gaming data, per player and per game module. During data analysis, two models are applied
on the data: the Cognitive Gaming Model (CGM) and the Risk Prediction Model (RPM). The CGM tells a player’s current status, based on recent gaming data, while the RPM delivers a prognosis about how the status of a player will develop in the near future.
The CGM is measuring different dimensions of (problem) gambling and we are adapting the CGM to each new country, operator, and population of players. Doing so requires expert knowledge, several parameters influence how we adapt the CGM. Parameters we are looking at include characteristics of the operator, functionality of the games, country-specific gambling legislation etc.
An important input to this process is scientific research describing the situation in the target country, as well as feedback from experts on problem gambling in the target country. We also consider research from comparable countries.
This is how Playscan's data analysis contributes to the result a player will see as a traffic light. The important thing to note is that we are adapting Playscan's data analysis models for each country, operator and population of players.
This adaptation to the players is one of Playscan's strengths - what we do is based on advanced technology and scientific research.
