We also have the confidence of owners with very special first line properties. Owners that don’t like to open up their home for the internet world. With all the respect for the privacy of this kind, our job is to find the clients in a different way.

On 11th of May, the US AmericanShow Basketball Team comes to Mallorca in the hall Son Moix in Palma. The Harlem Globetrotters call themselves as the best team in the world. But in this show no failures are intended. 2 years ago they played on the island and won over the Washington Generals. The players of the Globetrotters are show talents. Regarding sport these players are the ones who did not manage the jump in the US American professional league but instead they manage fast dribbling and spectacular dunking, what the visitors love. And the team started 10 years ago its own rules, like the 4-point-line, 9 meters distance to the basket. During their “No Limits” tour the Globetrotters come as well to Spain. At their show in 2018 the tickets were sold fast, therefore you should buy them early: proactiv.es.

After many years pausing, the MallorcaCult Band “Los Bravos” comes back to life. The band started in 1965 in Mallorca, 1968 they landed with their song “Black is black” in the top charts of the USA. Their song “Bring a Little Lovin” became famous again after in 2019 director Quentin Tarantino used it in his movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. All musicians live in Santanyi and they plan a tour starting in Spain.

JardinesdeMarivent, the gardens of the King’s Palace Marivent in Cala Major, Palma are open from 9-16.30. Closed during the visit of the Spanish royal family. Free entrance.

Driving on the countryside you see stonewalls bordering lands or surrounding a house. It is a stony puzzle and a special technic to build these beautiful, traditional stone walls “Pedra en Sec”, part of the UNESCO World heritage since 2018. The builders need skill and mainly strength and physic, with no help of machines. Only 250 margers (the name of the builders) are on the island, just using stones, no cement and no binder. Starting with a ground stone, approx. 1 m long. The limestone comes from the quarries on the island. What does not fit, they make fit. The higher the wall is, the more they use smaller stones, leaving small gaps between the stones, for the rain water to drain away. The last layer is pebble and soil. Prices start at 80 Euro per m2.

Local tips

EsSabater is the only shoe maker in the Baleares who manufactures shoes for problem feet, flatfeet and feet with plateau. The owner measures the feet, takes photos and shows different models out of a catalogue. He says, women have high expectations, they want to be chick. All shoes are made of calf or buffalo leather, possibly low weight and rubbing is avoided. Gustavo, full name Gustavo Penalver Vico, is an artist, painting colourful and humor full figures, decorating the harbour promenade in Cala Ratjada. Born on the main land in Cartagena, the 80-year-old artist lives now in Capdepera and had exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Barcelona, Paris, Palma, Brussels and Berlin, where he lived 20 years. September 2019 he bought the rooms of an old bakery and opened end of January his 200 m2 own gallery “Espai” (room in Catalan). The entrance is decorated with nature stones and ceramic tiles, coming from his workshop. In his gallery hang 15 to 20 paintings, the sculptures stand on 6 pedestals. The Black IPA is one of the three beer sorts started by the small brewery Adalt Brewing. Black like a Guinness beer with a similar dark foam - not an usual black beer but a dark Indian Pale (IPA), the kind of strong, rich an hop, beers, known for their bitter but fruity aroma. The black color comes from roasted malt. A few months ago the 3 friends found premises, approx. 10 minutes walking from Plaza Espana, directly beside the traditional Bar Venecia. There is space for a brewing kettle, a bar and a big patio, been used as beer garden. On Saturday from 11.30 til 15.00, before lunch, people meet for a glass of beer. Your suitcases are looked after at the airport: “Consigna left Luggage.” Open daily from 6:00 to 21:00 on the level of the check-in-counters (facturación). In the shop you can buy suitcases, protection covers and more. They offer you to wrap the suitcase and to check the weight, also they do copies and send parcels. If you don’t want to check in your suitcase you can send it from here. It’s a good alternative if the airline charges too high costs for overweight luggage.
