So far, the capital of the island only used mobile radar devices. But now they installed three fixed speed cameras. The three units will be installed on Calle Manacor at number 100, on Paseo Marítimo at the Sea Trade Exchange and on Calle Miquel Lladó in the Son Rapinya district. The speed cameras have already been set up but will be put into operation in a few weeks. It is a pilot project. Should it prove itself, more fixed speed cameras will be installed.

Mallorca Specials

Restaurant Millo in Santa Catalina quarter in Palma serves you delicious food from Colombia. Try sweet corn soup with sweet corn foam and a baby sweet corn and a Parmesan cracker on top. Or a baby goat in beer sauce with Yucca creme and onion foam. Or the short deep fried tuna fish with okra sprouts, accompanied by a sauce of caramelised coco milk, ginger and lemon peel. Or the delicious lamb with sweet potato cream, sweet corn rice, beef jus and truffle oil. All dishes come from the home country of the chef Michel Guzman, who runs the restaurant together with his French partner. Michel cooks traditional dishes in a new and modern way, which he learned in a school in his country and from chefs. Don’t forget to order the especially refreshing drink of the house with coco milk, lemon juice, some sugar and ice. Can be drunk with alcohol, of course with the Columbian snaps of anis and sugar cane. C/ Caro 30, Palma, Tel.: 871 040413, www.millorestaurant.com

Eat traditional in Celler in Inca. Going out to eat in Inca is mostly in cellars which used to be wine shops with huge old wine barrels. People came there to rest a while, having a glass of wine with their own brought food. Nowadays of course food is served. They offer a very good frito mallorquin, tumbet, snails, octopus with Sobrassada, tongue on capers, suckling pig, cod or St Peter fish with onions, partly as a tapa version, partly as a normal dish. Very decent prices - the very tender suckling pig with crusty skin, served with fried  potatoes and salad around 13 Euro. The products come mainly from the market in Inca; only the Angus beef they buy in Galicia. Celler Ca’s Xigarro, C/ Ses Garroves 24, Inca, Tel.: 871 512550, FB: Celler Ca’s Xigarro

Kitchengreetings from Latin America you get in the Restaurant Jardi in Arta. The young chef Gabriel leads this beautiful small restaurant with cosy patio of the city hotel Jardi. He enchants the most sophisticated guests with Mediterranean food with a Latin American touch. Ox filet on sweet potato mash and fried maniok root sticks with Guasacaca sauce, or pink roasted lamb hip on bean cassoulet, tomatoes and egg plant-coco-herbs-crunch. 32 year old Gabriel is an expert by preparing meat and loves exotic vegetables and fruits like passion fruit, yucca (maniok) or the olluco root - delicious, small coloured potatoes with different tastes. The red ones taste a bit like beet root. His guests love his fish soup or fish in salt coat. He learned from a star chef, worked in Kitzbuehel, Ischgl and Munich. Each Sunday he offers a 5 course menu for only 55 Euro. Restaurante Jardi by Gabriel, C/Abeurador 21, Tel.: 650 633946, restaurante@jardimallorca.com. Please make a reservation.
