Inline skaters in Mallorca are in a luxurious situation: many small roads, farmers’ paths in good condition and with nearly no traffic. Christmas markets:

Until 6 of January, Palmas center offers on 247 stands Christmas articles, mainly crips and other handicraft items. On Placa Espanya wait 75 stands for Christmas lovers, next door on the Placa de la Port Pintada another 10, in the Via Roma 24, on the flower Rambla 68 and on Placa Major 70.

In Puerto Portals from 20 Dec until 6 of January. For the kids there is a mini ice-skating arena, they offer short movies and theater parts and a storyteller reads for the children, live-music a dance school will perform. 

In Son Bugadelles, Calvia until 16 Dec. Kids can enjoy the Legoland and on Sundays there's a flea market.  

14 Dec - Benefit Christmas market in Pollenca, organized by the Lions Club Mallorca Nord. Christmas cookies, presents, water colors and drawings from artists from the area. The earnings go to local children help projects. 18.00-22.00, Club de Pollenca.

On 15 and 16 Dec at Rata Market in Palma, Carrer Gremi Picapedres, 1.

Hotel Hospes Maricel & Spa in Cas Catala, Palma/Calvia offers the Natura Park with massage cabins (Thai or Swedish massages), open air pool, relaxing rooms, sauna, Hammam, Whirl pools, spacy solarium terrace with sea view. Steigenberger Golf & Spa Resort in Camp de Mar offers indoors and outdoors pool, bio sauna, Hammam, steam baths, ice grotto, relaxing area. Body and Face treatments are available in the beauty section. 40 Euro, from January on 45 Euro. Carrer Taula 2.

Spa Tcuida Marimon in Coll d’en Rabassa offers Jacuzzis, Turkish bath, Hammam.  Relax under a Scottish or contrast shower with oils, in the relaxing room or with one of the massages. 90 minutes for 35 Euro. Carrer Trafalgar 23.

In the Serentias Spa in Canyamel they charge 80 Euro for entrance, including 30 minutes back and shoulder massage and the use of the pools and saunas. Refreshing jump in the cold vitality pool and relaxing with hot stone massages. Urbanizacion Atalaya, Vial A, 12.

Mirenchu Beascoecheas from Catalonia manufactures glasart de luxe - plates with glass from Murano/Italy. She lives and works in Marratxinet. She started as a fashion designer designing fashion and later shoes for Timberland. One day she fell in love with the precious material of Murano, creating objects of intensive color, moving between art and decoration. One of her first clients was the chef of the restaurant El Olivo in the Hotel Residencia in Deia. Her newest project are ceramic plates and bowls, to be combined with glass plates. Shape and design are from her, the production is in Portol. To be bought in the Boutique Belmond in the Hotel Residencia in Deia and in the L’illa de la Calma, Palma (Carrer Sant Sebastia, 2). New Years’Eve dinner in the popular restaurant HPC in PortoColom for 87 Euro, including welcome Cava, different appetizers and a 6-course-menu, grapes at midnight and typical Spanish Nougat. The owners run as well the well-known bistro “Zanzibar” in Palmas quarter Sta. Catalina. 

New highlight in the Lonja quarter in Palma is the 5-star luxury hotel Can Marques. Behind the entrance you will be flashed about the interior. This is not another boutique hotel; it is very special, for guests from all over the world who really look for something special. Elegant entrance areas 11m high, 140m2 big.  The old inner yard of the spacious city palace from the 18th century shows alabaster columns, staircases, an elegant lounge and a discrete reception on the side. Impressive 13 suites in the size of 33 and 380 m2, each one arranged individual and extravagant with measure built furniture, carpets specially knotted in Nepal, lamps produced in Murano/Italy and sophisticated art; a mix with décor of different epochs and countries, impressive and very stylish. The suites have partly own terraces; some you can rent in a pack of 3 with a living room together. Guests are picked up with limousine from the airport and can book the hotel owned 33 m long super yacht “WinWin”, that won several super yacht cups.

The owners are a German businessman and sailing freak and his French partner, an interior designer (www.alinematsika.com).  She will open her own boutique in the hotel; most of what you see can be bought, like carpets and lamps or individually made items. The restaurant will fascinate you as well; the chef is from Belgium, cooking classical French at decent prices. Best starter is an onion soup with truffles under a puff pastry hood. Fresh caught wild fish, rich portion Baeuf bourguignon, Rillettes in puff pastry Éclair as Amuse-Bouche, Quiche Lorraine with Waldorf Salad, duck liver terrine in jelly and Brioche, Bouillabaisse with Croutons and Rouille, lamb chops with herb sauce and Spekulatius sauce, Vol-au-Vent with chicken and mushrooms, Angus Burger with Brie cheese. Try the desert of meringue with vanilla sauce and oranges.

Two brand hot tips are the new gins. They taste good and the bottles look good. One is called “Mercat Gin”, the etiquette is made from wood, the relief design reminds on a boat, laying in the sea, fitting to the name. Mercant means hull. Many friends had to help to find the right taste. Besides the base alcohol and juniper berries, the gin contains coriander seeds, licorice, cinnamon, orange and angelica. The other gin’s name is “Palma Gin”, invented by 2 English gentlemen. The bottle design is an important part, it has no normal etiquette but it is integrated in the bottle: tile pattern of the traditional company Huguet from Campos in combination with a rosette, thinking of the famous rosette in Palma’s cathedral. The bottle is very Mallorquin and costs, filled with gin, 44 Euro. Half of the used bio spices and plants are from the island, like the juniper berry. The bio base alcohol comes from Sweden and is distilled by a worldwide expert named Henric Molin in his Spirit of Hven Distillery on the island Hven. The production is in a hall in the Poligono Castello (next to Jaguar), Palma. They offer guided tours incl gin tasting or you book a 3-hour’s workshop, offering to mix your own gin.
